Hello All, I am a single 55 disabled female, living in Massachusetts. I have just been told by my local housing authority that as of yesterday I am at the top of the list for the State-Aided Massachusetts Rental Vouchers program (MRVP). I have been in the top 3 on the list for the State Aided Chapter 667 elderly/handicapped program as well for the last 2 months, and have been waiting for an avaliable unit. I would much prefer to be subsidized through a MRVP voucher than a Project Based Subsidy. Difference is, with a MRVP I can live anywhere within the state and secure housing through private sources instead of living in a Public Housing situation. My question is....
If the State Aided Chapter 667 elderly/handicapped comes through first can I refuse it and wait for the MRVP instead without being put to the bottom of both lists ? My local housing authority seemed to dance around my question. Thank you in advance for your input.
